This section contains all the information you need to be the trainer and run your own professional development session with other staff, or alternately you can modify most of the activities and use them with the students. Click on the links below to read more… If you think you are ready to run a training session, or would like some tips on how to respond to students when running activities with them about same sex attracted and transgender youth (SSATY), read our 'tips for trainers'. This section takes you through what content the training needs to cover, when its best to teach it, and some useful tips on dealing with issues that may face the trainer. Okay, now your ready to look at the training sessions… you might find that just reading these yourself gives you a greater insight into SSATY. These include suggested session outlines as well as PowerPoint’s, handouts, activities. If you are interested in training that focuses specifically on supporting transgender young people, please click here to view a PowerPoint that was kindly developed by Liz Alexander and Ash Pike. These are a sensitive topics to talk about, and some people might not be comfortable talking about it, some people might be homophobic and it is also very likely that someone in your group is or knows someone who is GLBTI. Therefore, it is vital that you lay out some ground rules to make your training session successful.
